ARTIST STATEMENT: When I first read about the contest theme, the urban pup, the first image that came up to my mind was of a dog full of energy, playing in Central Park. I pictured his/her owner as a bohemian chic hipster who wants a lively dog that looks like them. I wanted to translate this exuberance into a fun necklace and went for a baroque style and colors that will get this dog the extra attention he deserves!

ARTIST STATEMENT: Well my inspiration for the urban dog out fit was a big fashion influence in New York City. The city is packed with beautiful people, colorful places, and glamorous events; and while attending those events your dog should fit the part as well. That is why I designed this out fit for the modern, urban, sophisticated, and fun dog.

ARTIST STATEMENT: This collar is designed to change from informal to formal occasions. This manner is defined by a decorative bow that can be added to the collar simply by sliding it on. This collar is perfect for the social pet who once in a while enjoys a formal event such as a party in the city.

ARTIST STATEMENT: I was really inspired by the Swarovski fishnet banding. What better or more beautiful material could be used for providing breathable visibility in a doggie’s home away from home? This oversized carrier is designed with sufficient space and comfortable sherpa padding for doggie to claim as his or her own for comfort and safety while at home and away from home. The crystals add beauty and a wonderful sense of permanence to this refuge. A variety of transfabric designs from the Swarovski collection can be used to individualize each bag, and repeated on a coordinating collar and leash.

ARTIST STATEMENT: When I first heard about the “Dog in the City Contest”,I couldn’t have been more excited. In addition to my love of fashion & accessories, I absolutely love dogs. I have a toy poodle named Spice, she goes everywhere with me. Whether we are shopping, dining at an outdoor café or strolling through Central Park,we are both always fashionably dressed, which is exactly why I knew I had to enter the contest. I definitely consider Spice an Urban Pup in the City,she was my main design inspiration during this challenge. Your stylish pet should always look his or her best! The first piece I created is a reversible dress/coat for a dog of any size. One side of this innovative garment is a black quilted top with a metallic leather pink skirt. The two sections are connected by a black leather belt bejeweled with Arial Mesh. The flip side consists of vibrant blue metallic leather with a black leather belt. Both the neckline & the belt are adorned with Arial Mesh. Next I designed a collar and leash set to coordinate with the reversible dress/coat. The collar has the pink metallic leather on both ends with a black leather center while the leash has the blue metallic leather on both ends with the black leather in-between. Like the belts on the dress/coat, the black leather is ornamented with the Swarovski Crystal Arial Mesh on both the collar and leash. All of these pieces are sure to get your urban pup on the best dressed list in any city!

ARTIST STATEMENT: “Save a Tree Hug Me Instead” Today’s environment is very focused on global issues dealing with the environment. I designed a jacket for a dog that deals with this growing concern. The jacket would be made out of cotton or recycled cotton. Using my skills that I have learned in my screen printing class, I printed images of branches and leaves and then embellished them with crystal.

ARTIST STATEMENT: “The Dog In Central Park” What do urban pups need the most? Love and time with pet owners. I am a dog lover and always try to think of what my dog wants to do with me. Taking a walk with my dog makes me always happy. Therefore, I represented a dog and the pet owner walking in Central Park. I used a map of central park as my inspiration.

ARTIST STATEMENT: People customize charm bracelets with trinkets that symbolize the best times of their lives. I created this Swarovski Pearl and Crystal Charm Necklace so that the urban pup, like her owner, might also celebrate those great events. The centerpiece—a brass bone covered with Swarovski pearls and crystals—expresses the importance of the bone as a classic icon in a dog’s life. The Swarovski crystal cross and handmade silver heart charm appeal to the canine’s sentimental side while a brass bow charm lined with peach crystals suits the true “glamour pooch.”Lastly, I added a tiny hydrant charm to recall that a pup need not forget her sense of humor. For the stylish pooch, this piece will make a bold statement that pops with personality.

ARTIST STATEMENT: A beautiful necklace for dogs and cats that is functional enough to withstand the busy lives of urban pups, but is pretty and unique, too.

ARTIST STATEMENT: As you know, lots of parties release in the city. When you go to a party, you do not have to let your dog in home alone. You can take your lovely dog with this turtle neck dress which is a proper wear to a party in the city. Moreover, you can make a special look for your dog. I think the shinny silky purple clothe looks good both of you and your dog. Now you can enjoy your party with your dog without worrying.

ARTIST STATEMENT: “Wear it, flaunt it, own it” The design I chose to present consists of an urban-glam yet subtly hip accessory for the New York pup.

ARTIST STATEMENT: This bag is made for small dogs. Dogs like to go everywhere with their owners and this bag enables them to do so with a hand-free design. Your dog can see the world with you and is the perfect choice for an urban pup.

ARTIST STATEMENT: I was inspired to do my “swirls” design because it is organic along with abstract. I think New York City is a little of both, you have all kinds of different people and dogs so I wanted to go with something that catered to everyone. City dogs are pampered dogs and their attire reflects their owner’s style. When the dog struts their stuff wearing this Swarovski leash and collar set, they will be the envy of all the dogs in the park.

ARTIST STATEMENT: I saw a documentary on endangered species and was inspired for my designs. The issue is very serious and must be given wider publicity. My designs will help build awareness in New York City.

ARTIST STATEMENT: My inspiration for this outfit was nature in New York city. Central Park is one of my favourite places where I like to sketch my design ideas. I hope that your pet will love and enjoy this outfit and bring to you only positive emotions.

ARTIST STATEMENT: This dog cocktail Chinese dress is made with 100% silk and embellished with crystal. It represents the strong positive energy of females in New York City.
