Pupstylish People and Pets that Made 2012 a Stellar Year!

As 2012 comes to a close we would like to reflect on those people and pets that in our opinion made it a stellar year!

To date this charitable organization has raised $371,765.85. In the aftermath of Sandy they were everywhere collecting food and donations to distribute to those pets in need. Rock & Rawhide aims to increase adoptions and quality of life for dogs and cats in shelters, by providing distraction therapy and noise/stress reduction through the donations of toys, tough chew items, Kongs, Nylabones, bones, rawhides, blankets and more. If a dog is chewing, it’s not barking! If a cat is playing, it’s not meowing! Less noise = less stress. In turn, dogs and cats can pass their evaluations at shelters, and show more of their personality, making them more adoptable.

2012 was also the year of the canine in advertising and pop culture!

The New Zealand SPCA, Mini, and DraftFCB were all part of a campaign, that saw dogs learning to drive specially rigged cars. The tagline? Dogs this smart deserve a good home! Brilliant!!!!

Dog Shaming went viral with funny pics of pups behaving badly and being called out for it!

John Unger and Schoep

When John Unger learned that his canine companion had developed severe arthritis and might not have much longer to live, John turned to water therapy to help his friend. The warm summer temperatures of Lake Superior and the weightlessness of the water were the perfect combination to help Schoep relax. Schoeps condition has since improved.

Addison-based Lutheran Church Charities’ “K-9 Parish Comfort Dogs” program

On Saturday, December 15, five Comfort Dogs and seven handlers arrived at Christ the King Lutheran Church in Newtown, Connecticut. By Monday morning nine dogs and 14 handlers were serving the bereaved community of Newtown.) The Comfort Dogs have attended church services, memorial services, vigils and have spent time with the children of Newtown and their parents. The reaction to the presence of the Comfort Dogs has been overwhelming. Children and adults alike smiled for the first time in days as they reached out to pet or hug a dog.

Once their rescue has been selected, DOG for DOG™ will contact the rescue to inform them of the pending donation.

MuffinHead

There was a big push toward sustainability and eco friendliness in clothing. MuffinHead understands the concept of upcycling clothing. Clothing is cheaper than it has ever been, which makes it more accessible, but also more disposable. We applaud Muffin Head for designing chic upscaled coats for dogs!

Pupstyle launched two new books with Scholastic! Our Pupstyle Trick or Treat and Red Carpet Books are getting rave reviews.

We have a lot in store (no pun intended) for 2013 and can’t be more excited.
